Dave Dufendach is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Valuation Services in Seattle. He specializes in the valuation of complex financial instruments, intangible assets, intellectual property, businesses and business segments for financial reporting, tax, and other purposes.

With more than 20 years of valuation experience, Mr. Dufendach is a nationally recognized expert in complex valuation matters, with a particularly emphasis on valuations for financial reporting under U.S. GAAP and I.F.R.S. standards. Typical assignments include: valuation of derivatives and complex securities; valuation of acquired assets and assumed liabilities in business combinations; and valuation of privately-held company equity securities. He is a frequent speaker at national conferences and has published a number of articles, many of which focus on advanced valuation methodologies. He has served as a member of the AICPA In-Process Research and Development Task Force, the AICPA Business Valuation Committee, and the AICPA Accredited in Business Valuation examination sub-committee. He was also a contributor to the AICPA Equity Securities Task Force.

Prior to joining A&M in November 2015, Mr. Dufendach was a partner in Grant Thornton's ("GT") U.S. valuation services group. He was the practice leader of the Seattle office, and a national leader in the complex financial instruments ("CFI") specialty group. With CFI client relationships that spanned the globe, he assembled multi-office project teams, assisted in the development of specialized models, and mentored numerous professional staff members. At GT, he also served as a national expert in other areas related to valuations for financial reporting, including in-process R&D assets, share-based compensation, contingent consideration, impairment testing, and related audit policies and procedures.

Mr. Dufendach earned an M.B.A. from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, with a concentration in finance, and a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Washington. He is a C.P.A., Accredited in Business Valuation (A.B.V.), and an Accredited Senior Appraiser (A.S.A.).
