Sarah Palin's Trademark Application is NOT the Most Compelling

The lay press is all over the fact that Sara Palin and her daughter are attempting to register their respective names as trademarks, reportedly for their value in the public speaking arena.  What appears to have been missed is the Russian International News Agency’s report of an attempt by the daughter of Yuri Gargarin, the Soviet Union’s first cosmonaut, to register her late father’s name as a trademark, presumably in anticipation of the 50th anniversary of that momentous flight in April.  The news agency values THAT trademark at $1B rubles, over $30M.
