Google acquires over 1,000 IBM patents

Bill Slawki at SEO by the Sea has put together some excellent background information on Google’s announcement last week that it purchased 1,029 patents from IBM. It appears Google is willing to put some of its $40B in cash towards a defensive patent war chest in spite of its mishandling of the Nortel patent auction bidding. No purchase terms were offered.
