New legislation would have universities share royalties from new technology licenses with the federal government
Overshadowed by Stanford v. Roche, Rep. Chakah Fattah (D-PA) introduced HR 2015, the American Discoveries and American Jobs Commission Act of 2011, which would create a panel tasked with the following:
- Study the possibility for the federal government to collect royalties from tech transfer’s commercialization of new technologies
- Study the potential benefits of reinvesting those revenues into math education and further research
