Nortel patent auction awakens Canadian agency


The difference between what insiders thought the Nortel patent auction would fetch and the final tally of $4.5B (a factor of ten) and has prompted the Canadian International Council to study the issue, starting with commissioning a paper from Karen Mazurkewich.

Ms. Mazurkewich calls for more collaboration between Canadian governmental agencies and private industry, smoother and improved technology transfer between research institutions and industry, improved training for small businesses, and integration of IP and business strategies.
