Wearable computer devices are in our near future

The bargain an inventor makes when moving from trade-secrets mode to file-a-patent-application mode is revealing to all (potentially) a strategic direction in exchange for preventing others from using the invention without permission for a given term.

Last week two already-rumored wearable computer devices were revealed by major technology companies in published patent applications. Google Glass describes a self-contained projection system, even the possibility of direct-to-retina imaging, worn as everyday spectacles are worn.  Apple’s application confirmed what they are considering for a bracelet that goes from flat to “slapping…[around] the wrist” and creates a solar and motion-powered smartphone device many are labeling the Apple Watch.
