Could The Simpsons fetch $1B in new deal?

Reuters is reporting the next syndication of The Simpsons may be a $1B deal.  Last syndicated to TV stations in 1998, the new deal will license reruns to cable stations as well. 

The Simpsons will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year and has over 500 episodes “in the can.” Speculation is that in addition to Fox’s own fx cable channel, other interested parties will be Viacom (with its Comedy Central and Nick at Nite) and Turner Broadcasting.
